Williamstown Elementary -
Williamstown Free Library -
was established in 1874 mainly through the efforts of Joseph White, a
graduate of Williams College, later a trustee and treasurer of the College and a member of the Massachusetts
Board of Education. The foundation of its collection was an agricultural library of about 100 volumes. At first it
occupied two rooms over a hardware store and was open nine hours a week.
Williamstown Historical Society -
Williamstown House of Local History - was founded in 1941 to promote knowledge of
the town's history by collecting and preserving materials, mounting exhibitions, presenting
educational programs, and facilitating research. Its goal is to document the diverse people
and buildings, the associations and businesses, the institutions and events, which form the
town's history from the earliest days to the present time.
Williamstown Jazz - The Williamstown Chamber of
Commerce and Williarns College Department of
Music are pleased to announce the second annual
jazz festival, JazzTown '00. The sounds of JazzTown
will resonate throughout Williamstown, and for the
first time this year, North Adams April 4-9, 2000.
Featured events include the Billy Taylor Trio with
Sheila Jordan, the Tom Harrell Quintet, and the
Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton
Marsalis. Tickets for all events will be available
starting January 12th at 10 a.m. by calling the
